Q. Is there a charge for using the facilities?
A. No, but we ask that you supply either DVD disks, a USB key or portable hard drive to enable the transfer of the digital media file produced for focus group sessions.
Q. When should we book time and space?
A. Try to let us know as far in advance as possible. We are flexible and know it can be difficult to arrange times with participant groups. If you have booked space and are unable to commit to that time, please inform us as soon as possible so that others may book the facilities, as oftentimes there is a waiting list.
NOTE: The recording of focus groups does not occur during the months of May through August as the Media Assistant is on sessional leave.
Q. Who can use the facilities?
A. The centre facilities are available primarily for faculty and graduate students engaged in qualitative methodological research that requires the use of our observation/research rooms, interview rooms, where audio and/or video recording will be of benefit, and for teaching where use of the facilities is applicable.
Q. What facilities are available for use?
A. Along with the large focus group research room and observation room, rooms can also be booked for interviewing. Time in the transcription room may also be scheduled. We have digital voice and standard/mini cassette recorders that are available on a short term basis for graduate students and faculty enaged in interviewing. Please bring a USB flash drive with you in order to save your work when transcribing interviews.
Q. How do I book the facilities or equipment?
A. Email us at email@example.com with your request, detailing your specific requirements, i.e. whether you require audio and/or video-recording, the size of your group or class, the number of sessions you will need, and tentative dates and times. While bookings are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis, we strive to meet individual needs in a flexible and informative manner. We will review your request and respond in a timely manner once we have your full information and requirements.
